I am designing my own wedding invitations, but I need some help. I want the invitations to reflect our theme- the beach. I have found a beautiful set of invitations I would like (Island Dreams from Destination Romance by Dawn), but they cost more than I prefer to spend (our wedding is going to cost less than a third of the average wedding cost now a days). I’m trying to keep the cost at around $75 or less (I have already bought a set of 100 blank invitations w/ envelopes for $20). I would love to have thermography, but not sure how much its going to cost. I would be happy just printing the wording off of my own printer, but I would like an ocean/ beach picture. Does any one know where I could get free pictures that would still look classy enough to be on a wedding invitation? Any other ideas?
google what you want with free pictures
eg. free island dreams pictures
loads of great pics come up, take your pick of them
if you have a paintshop programme, you can then soften the pictures up using the editing modes in the programme
good luck

Putting wedding invitations together involves placing squares of tissue paper over the wording of the invitation, placing it in the envelope facing the back and slipping in the reply card, which should be stamped and ready to mail. Assemble wedding invitations, which can consist of several components, with creative ideas from an event coordinator in this free video on weddings.

I am getting married in six months. We are paying for everything ourselves so we want the cheapest route possible. I am wanting to make my invitations from the computer, does anyone have any ideas or web pages for a homemade wedding invitation?
You could also just open up a WORD document and go onto Microsoft office’s template website. Type in what you are looking for in their search, such as "Wedding Invitations" and browse through the printable patterns.
I also knew of someone who just went to an office shop like Staples, and got "pretty" stationary. They printed their invitations out on that, and just had everyone RSVP through email.
What I am doing for my wedding is making postcards…..overnightprints.com has many postcards to choose from. I think it is only $20-30 for a box of 100 of them. And I will have people RSVP through email or phone. It is a neat and different idea from the regular invitations.
If you are looking for something homemade though, I would stick to Microsofts website….

I have googled but it only brings up websites with plain and ugly invitation ideas. I’m after something like what you’d find in a magazine. I would go to the newsagent but it’s closed and i dont want to wait for tomorrow.

I was thinking of painting the invite on a wooden heart cutout and then making it into a magnet. Then it’s kind of a favor and invite all in one…..anyway, any creative ideas are appreciated… my budget also isn’t huge so cost effective ideas are great!
Thanks!
That sounds interesting. I like it. Another option that is similar is to make the invitation into a coaster – that way its a useful favour that lasts…They are pretty cheap to make. You can even lacquer over a photo that is glued to a coaster back if you want – I have done this and they last well. So maybe you could have a photo of you and the groom with the invitation written over the top, then lacquered?

Any ideas will be appreciated. We are getting married in Jamaica and having a party when we get home; pizza, beer, margaritas, cake, beer pong, limbo. We are open to any fun ideas. Thanks a lot!!
Buy an invitation making kit at Michael or Staples or a similar store. They usually come 50 invites per box. Open up your Microsoft Works and get creative. You can purchase images online and use them as a ‘watermark’ to personalize them or purchase rubber stamps. You can print on vellum and tie in to the card-stock with a decorative ribbon with an image stamped or printed on the card stock… the options are limitless, just use your imagination.

Looking for some ideas. We are having a small wedding, and I am craft-aholic so I wanted to make our invites myself. Any suggestions on some good ideas. I am looking for pictures, etc. I like the type of invites with the pockets for everything…I also like stuff that is different. : )
Cool- I think your idea is awesome!!

Try going to a scrapbooking store with a die cutter.. Maybe you can quickly die cut a bunch of things that would be easy to cut and paste onto the invites.. Also, scrapbooking stores always have die-cuts that are centered around any occassion, and they might even have pre-made cards with pockets.
Dont forget the return envelopes and RSVP cards!!
You might also consider taking a calligraphy class, and learning how to write them out really nicely.. but keep in mind- it is tacky to have a hand written card that is in a printed or labeled envelope.. and depending on how large your guest list is, that might be an awful lot of work to do all that writing. (I have heard of people having a 250 person guest list and they called it a small wedding. Also, me and my sister did like 100 invites and it took us the better portion of a few weeks to complete them, and we did not hand make ours, lol)- So maybe having them pre-printed will save you a ton of time, also.
I think doing a picture can be nice, and it might be easiest and cheaper to get a picture of the two of you printed on some paper that is not photo paper.. It would be really expensive to pay for all those prints.
Another idea you can do is to go get a professional picture of the two of you (me and my hubby did one with glamour shots) and have it framed and matted- and put it on an easel in the front, like a guestbook.. The guests can then sign the photo’s matting, and it is really a nice way to display your wedding memories!
Good Luck, and Congrats to the wedding plans!!!

My cousin wants to make her own invitations for the wedding, but she doesn’t know how. Does anybody have any good ideas you wouldn’t mind us stealing?
[phpbay]hand made wedding invitations, 12, “”, “”[/phpbay]
get some simple cheap cards at the dollar store then personalize them with the theme of your wedding,
get a hole puncher and attach ribbon or something nice looking,
downy white feathers are cheap and i think look kinda cool
craft supply stores sell stamps, or you can make your own personalized monogram with some pink pearl errasors and some basic tools and a linoleum block cutter that you can find in a art supply store, (you only need one that looks cool and a ink pad to get limitless impressions, e mail me for details,) if you have some heavy papper and a good sowing machine you can even sow something small on the edge of a card, or if you have an embroidery machine…
thats all i got
