I am looking for new or unique ideas for wedding invitations. We will have a garden wedding, and I want to use calla lilies as my flowers. I want to make so unique invitations, even if it is only folded differently. Any ideas?
I think petal folders would be good for you. The four sides fold in on themselves, like flower petals. The invitation is inside. Nice way to compliment your calla lilies.

Both bride and groom have the very common last name of Smith.
The same as any other invite…..there’s no special way to do it just because you have a common last name

We are paying per person for our reception. Is it rude to ask ppl if they are planning to come just for the ceremony or both the ceremony and reception? Also how do we word that on out invitations and how can we say that once we have a final number we cant let any guest in that didnt rsvp and not sound rude?
On the RSVP card (that is usually with the invite) put empty boxes next to the choices:
Will be attending the ceremony only
and
Will be attending both the ceremony and reception
also at the bottom of your invite put a reminder saying, "remember if you don’t RSVP you will not be included in the final count". That way people will know that if they don’t RSVP they can except that you won’t be paying for them.

My colors now are brown, yellow, and white. I bought these wedding invitation kits at a mega clearance deal. They have this silver border on it and I don’t know what to do to style up the invitation. I’m trying to make it more modern. I’m thinking just a simple ribbon on top punch holed in.
Silver is a neutral color, so it doesn’t have to become a part of your official color scheme.
Plus, even if you use a color somewhere, it doesn’t have to be used elsewhere. If everything flows together nicely, that’s all you need to worry about.
If you want to add a ribbon to the invitations, go ahead. Or apply a little stick-on jewel, or a paper/ribbon "belly band" to hold the invitation and the inserts (RSVP card, and a map or hotel card if you’re sending those) together. Just make sure it all fits in the envelope and won’t get squished, and plus make sure that it won’t require any additional postage.

I am designing my own wedding invitations, but I need some help. I want the invitations to reflect our theme- the beach. I have found a beautiful set of invitations I would like (Island Dreams from Destination Romance by Dawn), but they cost more than I prefer to spend (our wedding is going to cost less than a third of the average wedding cost now a days). I’m trying to keep the cost at around $75 or less (I have already bought a set of 100 blank invitations w/ envelopes for $20). I would love to have thermography, but not sure how much its going to cost. I would be happy just printing the wording off of my own printer, but I would like an ocean/ beach picture. Does any one know where I could get free pictures that would still look classy enough to be on a wedding invitation? Any other ideas?
google what you want with free pictures
eg. free island dreams pictures
loads of great pics come up, take your pick of them
if you have a paintshop programme, you can then soften the pictures up using the editing modes in the programme
good luck

I want to get married and need to know how to choose unique wedding invitation wording
If you "choose" prewritten wording it won’t be unique. The only way to achieve unique wording is to write it yourself or have someone write it especially for you.
It’s not hard – just move away from formality, think creatively, but don’t forget the essentials
WHO is getting married
WHEN the ceremony is (time and date)
WHERE the ceremony will be
Where the unique part can come in is if you say something about
WHY you’re getting married (ie.. something about your relationship) and
HOW you’re getting married (unusual elements of the ceremony etc etc)

My fiance and I have been living on our own, and already have everything we need, or could imagine we would need, as far as wedding gifts go by. We would like to ask our guests if they chose to give a gift, that a gift of money is preferred.
I don’t want to offend anyone (my family is not as easily offended as his) however it will give us a chance to go on a really nice honeymoon before he gets deployed.
Any thoughts on how to say this nicely on an invitation?
If you would like to give a gift please consider a cash contribution towards our honeymoon.
This is awkward, but should not offend anyone!
Have a lovely wedding!

I am a professional Art Director, and my future sister-in-law wants me to design her wedding invitation. Is there a website out there that will let me upload my own design and they print the invitation, envelope, response card, etc.
Are you set on printed invitations? Because if not, you could upload your invitations to a site like Greenvelope.com and use their service to send them out as evites and track all responses electronically. It’s not for everyone, but using evites can be a nice way to save some money and reduce paper use. And Greenvelope is advertisement free and delivers your invitations in an elegant electronic envelope. I would encourage you to check the site out. Good luck!
Thanks,
Sam

I have found wedding invitation kits, but I’d like to just by the paper and make them myself. I know where to get the cards that go in them, but I’d like to find some pretty translucent vellum to wrap the cards in, or cover them. Where can I find this? I’ve looked at all the craft stores.
