Looking for some ideas. We are having a small wedding, and I am craft-aholic so I wanted to make our invites myself. Any suggestions on some good ideas. I am looking for pictures, etc. I like the type of invites with the pockets for everything...I also like stuff that is different. : )
Cool- I think your idea is awesome!!

Try going to a scrapbooking store with a die cutter.. Maybe you can quickly die cut a bunch of things that would be easy to cut and paste onto the invites.. Also, scrapbooking stores always have die-cuts that are centered around any occassion, and they might even have pre-made cards with pockets.
Dont forget the return envelopes and RSVP cards!!
You might also consider taking a calligraphy class, and learning how to write them out really nicely.. but keep in mind- it is tacky to have a hand written card that is in a printed or labeled envelope.. and depending on how large your guest list is, that might be an awful lot of work to do all that writing. (I have heard of people having a 250 person guest list and they called it a small wedding. Also, me and my sister did like 100 invites and it took us the better portion of a few weeks to complete them, and we did not hand make ours, lol)- So maybe having them pre-printed will save you a ton of time, also.
I think doing a picture can be nice, and it might be easiest and cheaper to get a picture of the two of you printed on some paper that is not photo paper.. It would be really expensive to pay for all those prints.
Another idea you can do is to go get a professional picture of the two of you (me and my hubby did one with glamour shots) and have it framed and matted- and put it on an easel in the front, like a guestbook.. The guests can then sign the photo's matting, and it is really a nice way to display your wedding memories!
Good Luck, and Congrats to the wedding plans!!!
